The flow regulator is a separate component that is installed inside the faucet spout in place of the standard aerator. It maintains a predefined water flow rate regardless of the prevailing line pressure. The flow controller also compensates for pressure fluctuations between 1 and 8 bar, ensuring a pleasantly steady water flow and reducing splashing in the sink caused by pressure variations in the network.
Flow regulators are available in several options, ranging from strong to moderate flow limitation (approx. 3.5 l/min, approx. 5 l/min).
A standard aerator can allow over 15 liters of water per minute depending on line pressure. With a flow regulator, the volume can be limited to approx. 5 liters per minute. Limiting the water flow to under 4.2 liters per minute (at 3 bar) does not comply with type approval regulations. The water comes through as a pleasant, aerated stream and significantly less water is used—without noticeably affecting the user experience. The difference is mainly noticeable when filling large containers.
The flow regulator replaces the original aerator and is compatible with models featuring a "hidden aerator" (Lino-SA, LinoPin-SA).
A faucet equipped with a hidden aerator can be identified by the absence of a visible chrome ring at the end of the spout; instead, the spout appears as one continuous piece. The package includes one flow restrictor and a key required for replacement.
